Our Story

Grow Rhondda is a central hub for all our programs based at Tynewydd, designed to lead and support other projects in areas like funding, accredited training, and resources. Our goal is to create a strong network of volunteers and trustees who can guide the charity's growth effectively.

The Grow Rhondda management team works diligently to promote sustainable practices within our community, as environmental concerns become increasingly important for everyone. We have built upon years of experience in engaging with residents who might not typically participate in community activities. Many individuals appreciate the opportunity to learn practical skills and share information in a supportive environment, especially during challenging times like the cost-of-living crisis.

Our successful GP referral project from 2018, established in partnership with Rhondda Docs and Interlink, has demonstrated positive impacts on individual lives. By providing access to green spaces and addressing environmental issues through various projects and activities, we contribute to the wellbeing of our community members. Research supports that these therapeutic benefits can have a significant impact on individuals' mental health and overall quality of life.

Collaborating with local NHS hospitals has allowed us to expand our reach within the Rhondda area. With support from hospital staff and management, we have established accessible spaces at YGT Hospital and YCR Hospital for Grow Rhondda programs, further strengthening our commitment to supporting community members through sustainable practices and engaging activities.
